POLLARD, Michael
Michael Pollard (d. 1928) served as a Mounted Constable during the interwar years, appearing frequently in Northern Territory police and court reports; a former Queensland policeman and wartime hospital orderly, his policing career was cut short by illness, leading to his death in Brisbane.
Mounted Constable Michael Pollard is not recorded in the NTPMHS database but is mentioned in several newspapers of the day which are referenced here for further research.

DEATH OF MR. M. POLLARD;
Mr. Peter Lynch is in receipt ofa telegram from Mrs. Pollard, dated July 18th, stating that Mr. Pollard "had died on that date. Thc causeof death was (unreadable) to be internaltrouble.
The late Michael Pollard was at one time in the Queensland police force, stationed on the southern border, and also at Innisfail, N.Q. During the latewar he enlisted and served in the capacity of hospital orderly to army surgeons. After being discharged from war duty he came to Darwin, where for a time he acted aswardsman at thelocal hospital and was also associated with Mr. M. A. Kelly, ia the Health Dept. He was also employed at Vesteys. H left Darwin some where about 1920, and was for a period residing in Brisbane, being employed as a tally clerk on the wharf, but he again returned to Darwin and joined the police force about the year 1923. Some time ago he resigned from his position in the force owing to ill-health, and went , to Brisbane to reside with his family, but, according to reports, he gradually grew worse, death - resulting as above stated.
