Daly River

The Daly River Police Station was first built at Wooliana in 1915. It is now located on Low Level Road. Daly River is a very popular tourist destination and is subject to major flooding in the wet season

The Daly River Police Station was first built at Wooliana in 1915. The original station was then relocated and a new police station was commissioned in 1935 at the Daly River crossing - low level road. The current police station which was built in 1995 is built at the same location. Daly River district is one of the major tourist destinations within Northern Territory. A very popular fishing spot for locals and tourists. The Aboriginal name for the community is Nauiya.


The station is manned by two members. They maintain law and order in the community providing essential services. Some of their tasks are -

General policing

Traffic patrols in the community and on the Daly River Road which is the main road into Daly River and surrounding communities.

Community engagement

Disaster relief - Daly River is subjected to major floods



Mounted Constable Raymond 'Ray' Brigland was the first officer at Daly River when the station opened in 1915.
